The Killarney Classic Killarney Country Club, Johannesburg Medal

The Killarney Classic — “Netflix & Chill… Minus the Chill” Edition

Sunday at Killarney Country Club delivered the kind of drama we pretend we don’t want, then secretly replay in the car on the way home. The format was simple: individual net Medal. The outcome was anything but—unless your definition of “simple” is “18 holes of polite warfare with the course.”

How it shook out (officially, so nobody can appeal to WhatsApp):

  • 1st — Cynthia Moraka (19): Net -1. Translation: she didn’t just beat the course—she negotiated a better deal at the 19th hole. If confidence were a club, she’d be carrying a full set.
  • 2nd — Lawrence Mubika (14): Net +1. One shot from glory, which is also how most of us describe our entire golfing careers.
  • 3rd — Walter Bvekerwa (9): Net +3. Solid golf, steady nerves, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing your short game didn’t file for early retirement.
  • T-4 — Brighton Jakata (12), Crispen Muzvuwe (11), Graham Kusano (12): Net +4 each. A three-way handshake at the top of the “almost podium,” proving that ties aren’t just for Sunday lunch—they’re for leaderboards too.

Course report: Fairways were generous, greens were honest, and the bunkers remained enthusiastic volunteers for anyone who asked nicely with a slight pull. Wind contributed “character.” Players contributed scorecards. Marshals contributed to raised eyebrows.

Closing statement: Congratulations to everyone who signed a card without inventing new math. To the rest of us: we’ll see you at the next event—same swing thoughts, slightly different excuses.

Results follow the official leaderboard export. If your name isn’t where you expected it, blame the slope rating… or your putter. (Mostly your putter.)
